Ollie Hancock showing strong winter testing pace

Ollie Hancock’s pre-season preparations could hardly have gone better, with the Hampshire-based racer topping the time sheets at all three Formula Renault BARC test days so far.

The 2007 BARC race-winner and rookie-of-the-year, was quickest of all the BARC-spec cars at this winter’s tests at Rockingham, Brands Hatch and Snetterton, leaving Hancock and his Scorpio Motorsport team hugely encouraged for the forthcoming campaign.

While relative pace in testing is notoriously difficult to judge, Hancock has gone faster than last season’s pole time at both Brands and Snetterton and feels he and the team have made significant strides this winter.

“We’ve had a couple of small teething problems, but generally the car feels fantastic,” said Ollie. “We’re much quicker than last year and it feels better with every run. The guys at Scorpio have all been fantastic and we believe there’s even more time to come. At the moment everything is heading in the right direction.”

Hancock will test again at Brands Hatch on Friday 14 March, while the 2008 Formula Renault BARC championship kicks off at the Kent circuit with a double-header on 23/24 March.
